Is discharge and pooping in sleep normal 10 days after dog pyometra surgery?

No, that is not normal. She should be put on broad spectrum antibiotics. There may be an infection in the uterine tissue that is remaining in the abdomen (stump pyometra). A second surgery may be needed to remove the infective tissue. The bloodwork shows a high white blood cell count indicating infection. Some of her liver enzymes are mildly elevated but I don't think they are significant at this time. She needs to be evaluated for a stump pyometra. I am assuming she is on an antibiotic. if not, then your vet should start her on an antibiotic. If she is on an antibiotic then you should call your vet as he/she may want to change antibiotics. After 4 days, I would expect any discharge to be decreasing.

It is uncommon for discharge to persist this long and a culture and sensitivity test to identify any unusual bacteria may be worth considered and a change of antibiotic may be required if it is resistant to what she is currently on

Hi, sorry to hear about Daisy's troubles! Pyometra surgery in most cases is relatively uncomplicated. She should be on pain medication and antibiotics that your vet would have provided. many pain medications for dogs can make them sleepy. 60 hours post of she should be starting to feel back to herself within another day. If she is still lethargic and is having any problems like not eating diarrhea, a fever or acting dull, she should be rechecked by your vet. If she is not having any of these, she may just have hard a tough time with anesthesia. I would say by day 3 or 4 if she is not back to herself, call you vet and ask if it could be related to any medication she was sent home with. It's possible that you may need to refill your antibiotic prescription. Your doctor may be able to do this over the phone. It's possible that the original prescription or infection may have cause an imbalance in Hooka's stomach. If you notice any vomiting and diarrhea hasn't gone away over the next 24 hours, you might consider offering her a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice until it subsides.

The diarrhea can be due to stress, pain, or the antibiotics. All in all I would say that if she is eating and becoming more active, I would not panic yet. Give it a few more days. Stump pyometra is a common sequela to retained ovarian tissue in the female dog. This can happen when the surgery was performed, As the ovary continues to produce progesterone and estrogen in cyclical fashion, any remaining endometrium is stimulated and fluid accumulation within the uterine stump occurs, increasing the chance for infection during diestrus. Ideally an ultrasound is needed to make sure there is no remnant of the ovaries left. If antibiotics are not effective, a bacterial swab should be ideally performed to identify specific type of bacteria and most appropriate antibiotic.
