Is it harmful if my dog was dewormed multiple times recently?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Male | neutered | 8 years and 10 months old | 8 lbs

My toypoodle had a parasite. The vet dewormed him 16 days ago and again 1 day ago to make sure it was gone. Today, we took him to a pet stop clinic and they also dewormed him. Can this be harmful to him (from excessive deworming if that's a thing)? If so, what should I do? Thanks in advance!

Most of the common dewormers are incredibly safe, so I wouldn't worry about any toxic effects from overuse. If Toto shows any signs of illness, like vomiting, diarrhea, or profound lethargy, then I would discuss this possibility with your vet.
