My dog has a dark lump near his nipple. Could it be another nipple?

My dog has a nipple looking lump beside his nipple and it's a dark Color...Could this just be a nother nipple?

Without seeing it in person, I can't say what it is for certain. I can say that nipples are not usually right next to each other. It could be possible he has an extra nipple, but I would be more likely to think it's a lump of some sort. It could be a benign tumor, a wart, or a malignant tumor, among other skin lumps. I would recommend taking Apachie into your vet to have them check out the lump. Any suspicious lumps should be investigated by your vet. Your vet can perform a simple test on it called a fine needle aspirate to help identify it. To do this, your vet will stick a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examine the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform.

If the liquid coming from her nipple is brownish and there is a mass in the breast tissue it is likely a cystic mammary tumor. A lot of which are benign. Some breast masses in dogs are cancerous though. Usually it is recommend to spay them and remove the breast mass. Hormones play a role in the formation of the tumors.

I'd get the mass checked out by your Vet and discuss removing it to biopsy.

Breast cancer is definitely a concern. It could be either benign or malignant, so Miny really needs to see a vet. They can collect a sample with a needle for evaluation under the microscope to determine if it is a big scary thing or a smaller worrisome thing.

That looks like a growth, not a nipple. In a dog Rocco's age, there is always a chance any growth can be malignant and if it is, it does need to be removed surgically. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. This could be either a benign or malignant growth. Based on Kane's age, it is more likely a benign growth. I recommend that you have Kane evaluated by your veterinarian to have a fine needle aspiration of the mass to find out what it is. My dog has a pink fatty lump on his belly near his nipple. What is it?

Hi. Unfortunately it is impossible to tell without an examination and testing of the lump. But, it appears to me to be what's called a histiocytoma. These are benign growths that appear in young pets usually under the age of 4 and usually around the age of 2. They are red, raised, sometimes dry and ulcerated looking. We are benign growths that usually go away on their own within a few months. I would recommend though having it double checked by your veterinarian. Good luck.

I would continue to monitor is for any sudden changes. It should definitely get checked out by a vet in the next few days. Possible causes for this include mammary tumors, tumors not related to the mammary system, infection, or mammary hyperplasia. If it gets suddenly bigger or there is any discharge, I would see a vet sooner.

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign.
