My dog has a lump on her belly. Is it a nipple or needs vet check?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | 40 lbs

Is it just a deformed nipple? Or should we take her in to get it checked out? It's on her underside. She's a Labrador and bull dog mix if that's important.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think it would be worthwhile having her evaluated to make sure that it does indeed look like a nipple and to ensure it is not something else like a mass or nodule. Based on an examination, your veterinarian would be able to tell you if this should be biopsied or not. Good luck!

This lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Annie to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.
