Why is my dog crying after kennel, favoring a side, but no pain?

Caddy looks really uncomfortable in the photos. It sounds like there is a source of pain, judging from the photos, thid could be pain in the abdomen or in the back or legs. It may also be something simple like full anal glands. I would give him an hour or so to see if he settles in case its just a gassy tummy, but if he doesnt I would take him in for an examination.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is possibly neck or back pain. It could still be pain associated with a leg even if nothing seems wrong with them. I recommend that you have Chico evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics include radiographs. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least they can prescribe pain control medications to make Chico feel better. In the meantime, reduce his activity as much as possible as that in itself can make a big difference. If he is still eating and drinking well, and not having any other issues then it could be that he has arthritis and that is causing some pain or discomfort. Try to keep a journal of when he is crying/whining including time of day, as well as what he did that day (did he have a big walk, was he outside or inside all day, did he do a lot of stairs that day, what food did he eat that day, did he get a lot of treats that day, etc) This will help determine what the problem is. There are many reasons a dog may whimper without showing obvious signs of illness. Sometimes it is due to a mildly upset tummy, constipation, or any other injury or disease that causes pain. If you have felt all over his body and he seems quite bright in himself, I would simply keep a close eye on him. If you notice any signs developing such as lameness, inappatence, vomiting etc head to the vet for an examination.

I am sorry Buddy was not feeling well/being vocal. Unfortunately based on the information you provided it is hard to give great information. Dogs can whine due to anxiety, nervous, pain, trauma, and even behavior. If Buddy is acting normal now I would continue to just keep a close eye on him and if he repeats this behavior consider taking him to a vet for a good exam. hope that helps

If only Milo could talk! This type of behavior could be related to something like anxiety or to pain/discomfort. I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian who will check for evidence of pain on the physical exam. Many times this type of sudden pain is related to intervertebral disc disease, discospondylitis, upper abdominal pain or a pinched nerve. They may also check a urine sample or the anal glands as well. Since he can't talk, it's best to play it safe. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

It sounds like Cooper is painful. It could be a back spasm, a pulled muscle, or something more serious like a bulging disc. If you have any prescribed pain medications for Cooper, you can start that, and make sure he is resting, no running, no jumping, carrying him outside to go potty, etc. You can do gentle massage to help with muscle aches, and if you find a sore area you can use a heating pad on low.
