Why is my dog crying after vet shots for stress & bloody stool?

Pet's info: Dog | Maltipoo | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 7 months old | 11 lbs

Greetings, I had sent my 2 years old Maltipoo kid at a pet hotel for almost 10 days due to work commitment. When I got him back home I saw him passing blood in loose stool. The blood was fresh and bright red in color. I took him to the vet and was told that my kid was in great stress in my absence. The doctor gave him two shots and prescribed medicine. While my kid was getting the shots he cried aloud. Even mild touch is making my kid cry. My vet's clinic is closed until Wednesday. What could it

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Orio. Cernia is an anti-nausea medication. This is given under the skin and it tends to sting some dogs when administered. He may have had an antibiotic injection in the muscle. This can cause some muscle pain. Both of these tend to cause mild discomfort that should resolve with time. If not, he needs to see his veterinarian again. I hope this information helps!

I am sorry to hear about your pup! I would recommend calling your vet to find out if the symptoms he is showing could be related to the injections. You don't mention what injections were given, but some (such as Cytopoint) can have transient vomiting/diarrhea/lethargy as a result which usually resolves in a few days but your vet may want to investigate further or prescribe medication to treat these symptoms.

My puppy is tired with bloody stool after his vaccine, is it normal?

Bloody stool and lethargy could be an adverse reaction to the vaccination. I recommend taking your puppy in to the veterinarian asap due to the high probability that he is having a severe reaction and needs immediate treatment to help stabilize his condition. My dog screamed after Cerenia shot. Is it painful or does it burn?

Cerenia is a drug called maropitant, it is very effective but unfortunately it is very stingy on injection. I imagine this has scared him a little, but if he seems out of sorts for an extended time I would consider going back.

My dog has bloody stool and won't eat after antibiotics. What to do?

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach, Sabina! I can see that Oliver has severely bloody stool. This can be caused by imbalance of the bacteria in the gut due to the antibiotics, if they have been given for another condition. This can also be caused by severe parasitic infections, bacterial infections, and conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease. I recommend having Oliver seen by the vet who prescribed the antibiotics, as they may recommend a probiotic to add to his treatment, or discontinue/switch the antibiotics.

My dog has bloody stools after vet treatment. Should I see another vet?

I would be very concerned about Yogi. Has he had any vaccines? There are several possible causes of this in young dogs. Parvovirus is high on my list. Intestinal parasites is also on my list. If the veterinarian isn’t offering diagnostics like a parvo test or intestinal parasite test, I would go for a second opinion. I think that Yogi needs some oral medications and possible food change. Why is my dog lethargic, vomiting, drooling after vet visit?

The injection is called Cerenia, if this didn't help then you must take him back to the vet for a blood test and xray/ulrasound, he might be suffering from either a foreign body in the GI tract or severe gastrointestinal infection.
