Why is my dog vomiting and having soft stool after allergy shots?

Poor guy. Steroids can cause abnormal stools, so this is likely the culprit. Also his body is stressed, so loose stool is commonly seen. You can try giving him a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese for a few days, then slowly transition him back to his normal diet once his stools do return to normal. 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) can also be added to his food daily to help solidify his stools. If he still has loose stools after 48 hrs, then a repeat vet visit is likely needed to get him on something stronger. You should continue to give the Benadryl as instructed by your vet. Vomiting and inappetence can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Shelby evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated. The dexamethasone should not make Kai vomit. I recommend to have him examined as the vomiting could be related to the initial allergic reaction. The bland diet should also help settle the tummy but it won’t stop a continuing allergic reaction. I hope this is helps.

He may have had an antibiotic injection in the muscle. This can cause some muscle pain. Both of these tend to cause mild discomfort that should resolve with time. Hello. It is possible that your puppy is having a reaction. If it is not terribly bad, it should subside in 24 hours. However, if it is getting worse, your puppy develops diarrhea or any difficulty breathing, please see your vet. And, you might want to consider having your vet administer the next set of shots. It could be a reaction. A dog can have vaccine reactions at any point in life. Reactions usually occur within 24-48 hours after vaccination. For the diarrhea, withhold food for 12-24 hours then feed a bland diet (plain, boiled boneless chicken and plain white rice) in small, frequent amounts until the stool is normal. Transition slowly to the regular diet. If t doesn't resolve, see your veterinarian. In the future, separate the vaccines to determine which vaccine caused the reaction. Your veterinarian can pretreat with an antihistamine to avoid reactions. Call your veterinarian and report the possible reaction.

Poor pup! I recommend to have him examined again today. It’s possible the liquid Benadryl is making him throw up. The doctor may recommend to try a tablet instead. The doctor may also want to send him home with some oral steroids and perhaps a medication to stop vomiting. A bland diet for the next 24 hours may also be beneficial.
