My dog's nose is crusty after stenotic nares surgery. Is it normal?

When dogs have nasal discharge on one side only it indicates a problem in that nostril or sinus. They can get pieces of grass or seeds in their nose that can cause this in addition to a nasal polyp or tumor. This looks infected so I recommend a veterinary exam. They may need to sedate Bowser to flush out and examine in the nostril, the throat and may need an X-ray of his sinus. Often flushing out or removing an object will cure this. If it’s a polyp or mass removing some of it to get a biopsy and diagnosis may be needed. Antibiotics may be prescribed as well for the infection. Based on the picture you have provided, it appears that this could be bacterial or a skin parasite causing the lesion. The skin may need to be cultured and if a skin scraping has not been performed, I would certainly recommend having this done to make sure this is not due to a skin mite such as demodex. If this is not due to a mite and is still there, I would recommend a culture / biopsy of the area for a more definitive diagnosis. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. It is difficult to tell from the pictures, but what you are describing on Cookie's nose can be due to a variety of reasons, including a scab, crusted nasal discharge, a cyst, a small growth, or another underlying issue. I would take Kodiak into the vet to have this examined, as it's not normal for the inside of the nostril to be bright red and raw looking. If he's resistant to you looking at it, I would imagine that it is bothering him a bit. You are correct that it could be due to a respiratory infection (sinusitis), but it could also be due to injury, a foreign body, fungal infection, or a nasal tumor. Kodiak should see a vet today during normal business hours, or tomorrow morning for an exam.

She could have an infection or possibly an auto-immune disease. Since this has been going on for 2 weeks, she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. She may need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and other medications to help treat.

I would recommend a vet visit. The picture is a little blurry but it may be infected. It could possibly be due to ringworm. The vet may want to do a skin scraping or fungal culture to determine what it is in the best course of treatment.

Yes a bit of redness could be normal, but from the picture it looks slightly more red than usual. That may have been due to the trauma. If you notice no discharge at all, I would not be worried about it. Monitor Leroy in the next 48hours and if you notice any sign (sneezing or discharge) I would recommend a check up.
