My dog collapsed, shook, and was unresponsive after rain. Seizure?

I am very sorry to hear about Clouds. I would definitely recommend a visit to your vet for an exam and bloodwork. It sounds as though this could be a seizure, and if they are occurring this frequently he needs treatment. The vet will do an exam and discuss the episodes with you and decide if they feel seizures were taking place (take a video if you see this happen again), and they will want to do bloodwork to rule out some possible causes of seizure such as liver disease or infection, and can discuss starting medication to help stop these episodes.

It sounds suspicious for a seizure . Kayla could have a seizure for a few reasons. The most common is epilepsy but toxins, liver disease or brain tumors can also cause seizures. I would recommend to take him into the vet asap for a neurologic exam and bloodwork. This will help to narrow down what caused this. Keep him quiet until his visit and encourage him to drink water. What you are describing sounds like it may be seizure. This can happen at any age from getting into something or having a change in their nervous system or brain. At her age, it is safest to have her checked by a vet to make sure there are metabolic reasons this was started. If it is a seizure then there is medicine they can start to help prevent further ones and control it

It's hard to say what this could have been. Maybe just a weird thing Lucky did, a seizure, a fainting episode, etc. I would say if he is back to his normal self, then don't worry about it much. But if these episodes continue or he has other abnormal behaviors or symptoms, you should call your vet.

Other signs of seizures would be strange behavior before the seizure, the seizure itself can include shaking or tending of all the muscles, Bailey may urinate or defecate during as well. I recommend keeping a close eye on her and trying to film this if it happens again to show your vet. They can determine the cause of the seizure with blood work and more advanced imaging such as a CT scan. If seizure activity is confirmed, Bailey will likely be placed on anti-seizure medication. Your vet can do an examination, run lab-work, and x-rays, if needed, to diagnose and then determine if any treatment is needed. If another episode happens, try to record so your vet can see exactly what happens during an episode.

Sounds like he may have lost his footing and then knocked himself cold (similar to when athletes get the wind knocked out of them after being hit) . Or he may have even had a brief episode of syncope (brief passing out episode due to an underlying heart condition). A silent seizure is also a possibility here. I would monitor him for now if he seems to have fully recovered and record any future events so that you can show your vet and get clarification on what may have caused this.
