My dog collapsed, couldn't walk, had a fit, and was dribbling. Why?

There are any number of medical reasons that might explain this, but the most likely would be a seizure (not all are classic grand mal), or a heart issue. The best way to determine the cause is to let your veterinarian do a full exam & blood work to rule out any metabolic or otherwise obvious reasons for the episode. Sounds like he may have lost his footing and then knocked himself cold (similar to when athletes get the wind knocked out of them after being hit) . Or he may have even had a brief episode of syncope (brief passing out episode due to an underlying heart condition). A silent seizure is also a possibility here. I would monitor him for now if he seems to have fully recovered and record any future events so that you can show your vet and get clarification on what may have caused this. It's hard to say what this could have been. Maybe just a weird thing Lucky did, a seizure, a fainting episode, etc. I would say if he is back to his normal self, then don't worry about it much. But if these episodes continue or he has other abnormal behaviors or symptoms, you should call your vet.

It sounds like Ingmar could have a serious health issue related to heart disease, seizures, or toxin exposure. I strongly recommend you have him examined by a veterinarian right away as some of these issues can be life threatening. Your veterinarian can assess Ingmar for a heart murmur and take X-rays to determine if emergency heart medication is needed. I am sorry Major is not doing well. With an older patient a wide range of possibilities could cause this behavior like infection, brain lesion, vascular even (stroke) and even trauma to the spinal cord. I would recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible for evaluation to see if there is anything you can do to help Major. I hope he improves

It sounds suspicious for a seizure . Kayla could have a seizure for a few reasons. The most common is epilepsy but toxins, liver disease or brain tumors can also cause seizures. I would recommend to take him into the vet asap for a neurologic exam and bloodwork. This will help to narrow down what caused this. Keep him quiet until his visit and encourage him to drink water. So sorry about your dog. Besides it being caused by a seizure disorder, he could have something like laryngeal paralysis, collapsing trachea or be having a syncopal (fainting) episode from a heart problem. You could try to record one so your vet can see exactly what is happening. If the episodes continue and your vet is not able to control them, ask for a referral to a specialist for more testing. It might be a good idea to take a chest x-ray, have an ultrasound of his heart, and/or examination of his throat to look for laryngeal paralysis. Hope he gets better soon!
