My puppy accidentally took too much codeine. Will she be okay?

If there was just Codeine and it was just a small drop, Lucy will be fine even if she does not weigh much herself. She could get a bit drowsy but will be back to her normal self within 8-12 hours. Hope this helps !

The codeine could definitely be the culprit. Sedation is one of the main side effects. I would recommend calling your vet to discuss a lower dose, especially if her pain is well controlled. There are also many other medications that could be used instead to see if she tolerates a different medication better. She may be a bit sleepy but otherwise she should have no ill effects. A dose of oxycodone for a dog her size is up to 10mg and she only ingested 5mg. I would not worry about this at all. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

If you gave the medication as your vet prescribed it she should probably be fine. In rare cases of overdose adverse reactions include changes in mentation (depression, nervousness, restlessness) and behavior. It may also cause sedation. This is a large overdose of aspirin (four times the high end of the dose), and for such as young puppy this is extremely concerning. Aspirin can cause Gi ulceration or preforation, respiratory problems, depression, seizure, coma, and even death. I would take Mollie into a vet immediately for decontamination procedures. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

Hi there, I don't know the concentration or dose of your liquid Hydrocodone, but overall it has a very wide safety margin and is very unlikely to be a cause of death. Unfortunately, sudden death could happen with many different causes of respiratory distress which is much more likely.
