My dog gets car sick and vomits. When should I feed her before a ride?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 months and 27 days old | 7 lbs

Each time patty is on a car ride, she vomits. Does this mean that she has a sensitive stomach, or should I take her on less car rides? Also is there a specific amount of time I should let the food digest before letting her ride? Thank you

Hello. Yes, Patty does have a sensitive stomach & is very prone to becoming car sick. You do not want to feed her for at least 30 minutes before getting into the car. There are several medications available to combat car sickness that are available from your veterinarian. Cerenia is a very good one. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
