My dog ate too many calming hemp treats. What side effects should I watch for?

A one time ingestion of this higher dose wouldn't be expected to cause any toxic effects. Your dog may be a little sleepier than usual. If he develops any other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, extreme lethargy or weakness then seek veterinary care.

If she just ate them (within the last 30 minutes or so) then you can induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide - 2 tablespoons. Hopefully she will vomit them up. If it has been longer than 30 minutes then you should take her to the vet. She may have no side effects or she may have some GI or neurological symptoms. There is no way to predict how a certain animal will react.

Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. If necessary, withhold food for 24 hours, allowing small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. He may also become constipated from all the treats, so if he hasn't pooped in more than 12 hours, try adding some plain canned pumpkin (**NOT pumpkin pie filling**) to his food and increase exercise. Both may stimulate defecation. Make sure he has plenty of fresh water as well. If he doesn't defecate for more than 24 hours, have him physically examined by your veterinarian.

Hello. I am more concerned about the glucosamine content of these chews. Very large doses have been associated with acute liver injury, so if Layla ingested the chews in the past 2 hours, you should get her to an emergency vet for decontamination & possibly started on IV fluids to minimize possible damage. If the chews were ingested more than 2 hours ago, you should still see a veterinarian where activated charcoal may be administered to try & minimize absorption of the glucosamine & to have her liver values monitored over the next few days. As far as I can tell by looking at the ingredient list, the most likely adverse reaction is likely to be vomiting and diarrhea.
