My dog ate calming treats with goji berries. Is this safe for him?

Pet's info: Dog | Labradoodle | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 1 day old | 20 lbs

My 20 pound Australian Lab ate a bag of Head to Tail Calming treats made of Goji Berries should I be worry, he seams fine this was like I think an hour ago.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. To be absolutely safe, I’d call the Pet Poison Hotline. They have specially trained veterinarian who can tell you more about what to expect. They will also consult with your veterinarian if needed about treatments.

There is a $59 fee but it is very worth it in almost all cases.

As far as I can tell by looking at the ingredient list, the most likely adverse reaction is likely to be vomiting and diarrhea.

If this becomes excessive or you see any other concerning signs (seizures, weakness, tremors, lethargy, mental dullness, other), it’s time to see the emergency vet right away.

Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I looked up the ingredients on this product and Russo should be just fine. If he has any vomiting, diarrhea or lethargy, I would recommend taking him to an emergency clinic to be evaluated. Otherwise, I would continue to monitor him.

I think the worst that will happen is some mild GI upset like vomiting and/or diarrhea - both of which should be self-limiting (meaning they should go away on their own within 48 hours). If they don't, then he needs to see a vet. He may be more tired than normal but not comatose so if he is sleeping and you can't get a reaction out of him then you need to get him to a vet ASAP. I recommend no food for 8-12 hours but be sure he has plenty of water available. These treats don't really contain anything toxic at large doses but remember, every dog reacts differently to medications/supplements just like people so if, at any time, you are worried about him you need to have him examined by a vet.

My dog ate over 100 CBD treats. Is this toxic? What should I do?

Hello. I am more concerned about the glucosamine content of these chews. Very large doses have been associated with acute liver injury, so if Layla ingested the chews in the past 2 hours, you should get her to an emergency vet for decontamination & possibly started on IV fluids to minimize possible damage. If the chews were ingested more than 2 hours ago, you should still see a veterinarian where activated charcoal may be administered to try & minimize absorption of the glucosamine & to have her liver values monitored over the next few days. A one time ingestion of this higher dose wouldn't be expected to cause any toxic effects. Your dog may be a little sleepier than usual. If he develops any other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, extreme lethargy or weakness then seek veterinary care.

My dog ate a whole jar of PetNaturals calming chews. Is she okay?

Hello, thank you for your question about Maggie. Based on my research on these chews I do not believe that Maggie will experience any significant side effects. The chews contain natural calming substances such as B vitamins, etc. You are correct in that she may experience some stomach upset. If you do notice that she becomes quite sedate/lethargic or is having difficulty walking I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian. Hope this helps!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I don’t see anything overtly dangerous in them, though the green tea could have a little caffeine. In general, it probably didn’t hurt Cocoa but it’s not the best choice for a treat. Stick to dog treats in the future- especially if you’re not sure what something is because there are few things that are very dangerous to dogs (xylitol, macadamia nuts to name a few). What to do if my dog ate too many calming pills or supplements?

If she just ate them (within the last 30 minutes or so) then you can induce vomiting with hydrogen peroxide - 2 tablespoons. Hopefully she will vomit them up. If it has been longer than 30 minutes then you should take her to the vet. She may have no side effects or she may have some GI or neurological symptoms. There is no way to predict how a certain animal will react.
