My dog has brown streaks in his ears that won't clean off. What is it?

It is difficult to tell from the picture but it could just be some discharge from his ear. You could try to clean his ear with an dog ear cleaner and see if it helps. Otherwise, have him examined by a vet to determine if he has an ear infection. Your vet can do a cytology and look at the discharge under a microscope to determine the type of infection and then prescribe medications to treat.

This amount of "dirt" on the external part of the ear i would considered normal, ear mites tend to be darker, like ground coffee, but in some cases it's not possible to actually see it from outside, the vet needs to check it with a cotton bud and under the microscope to confirm what it is. there 3 types of ear infections in dogs: yeast, bacterias and mites (less common). if Wallace seems to scratch his ears or shakes his head then it would be a good idea to get it checked by your vet.

It sounds like Mike may have an ear infection, which can be caused by yeast, bacteria, or mites. Please do not clean his ears out with coconut oil, it will not help keep them clean. If you want to clean Mike's ear, you should use a dog safe solution such as Epi-Otic. You can get at your vet's office. He will need to see a vet for his ear problems. The vet can diagnose if he does have an ear infection and can treat him for it. Please take him in first thing Monday. It's very important to have any ear problems examined, diagnosed, and treated promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to hearing loss.

These marks are small enough that I would not be overly concerned about these spots in the photos. As long as the lesions are not getting larger and he isn't excessively shaking/scratching I would just continue to monitor his years. They look like they could be spots where he may have rubbed or scratched the ear but do not appear excessively red and the ear canal appears normal.

There can be several causes for pigment change. The most common causes are low grade allergies, hereditary aging changes, endocrine disease or superficial infection. At home you can try giving him an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for pets but it may not correct the underlying cause. This can however improve over all skin health. This is very common in smaller breed dogs. It is normal eye drainage called epiphora. As long as the drainage isn't green or yellow and Scribbles isn't favoring her eyes, then I am not concerned that it is infection. I would recommend to use a warm damp wash cloth daily to clean under the eyes. I also recommend to have the hair under the eyes trimmed short or shaved. You can ask your vet or groomer to help you with this usually for little to no cost. I do not recommend to do this yourself as it is really easily to accidentally poke their eyes without proper restraint. Finally, if you do not like the brown color it makes, then you can consider using a probiotic or angel eyes which both will SOMETIMES work to decrease the darkness in the fur. Unfortunately it doesn't always work. You can take some comfort in knowing that as long as the eye drainage is frequently cleaned and isn't causing a skin infection then the brown discoloration is strictly cosmetic. I hope this helps!
