Worried about my dog's new brown skin spots after neutering?

However, some cats can develop pigmentation or lack thereof in the nose which could be normal. This is not related to the surgery and it is unlikely to be something to be concerned about. If it does not appear to be a lesion or it does not appear to be bothering Happy, I would just have your veterinarian take a look at it next time Happy is due for an check up. Good luck!

This really looks like it is most likely a harmless pigmented area. At this age pets get different colored spots on their skin because he is going through his maturation process. If it isn’t raised, swollen or has hair loss, then it is likely nothing to worry about and is just pigmentation. I would still mention it to your vet so they can look at it to verify. The pictures look like it could just be normal pigment change. As puppies mature their pigmentation can as well. If the skin is raised, thicker, crusty, or itchy then I would be concerned. If you have any concerns then I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian. If there is a concern then a biopsy could easily be done at the time of his neuter. If the darkened skin appeared around where she had a spay incision, it may be that the tissue darkened some during the healing process, she naturally had some darker patches that weren't visible before shaving the area, or you are seeing the spay scar from the incision itself, especially if it was done recently. If the area is bothersome to Zeytin, or is very itchy or rapidly changing in appearance, that could indicate something such as a brewing infection or allergy that should be checked out by your vet.

This looks like normal pigmentation to me however it could also be post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from an infection. I wouldn’t be overly worried but I suggest you use these medicated wipes on the pigmented areas daily for 7-10 days. If no change then it’s either normal or you should have your vet check it. Changes in skin color to a black pigment are often due to hyperpigmentation, which occurs secondary to chronic inflammation or irritation. The most common cause of this would be allergies (or atopy). Allergies usually show up between the ages of 2-4 years, so Pearl is right at that age. I recommend touching base with your vet to discuss if they think it's appropriate to start Pearl on an allergy treatment. Hope this helps! Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pepe. They appear to be normal pigment changes on his abdomen. If they are flat with no ulcerated or open areas, you should not have to worry. You can certainly ask his veterinarian next time he is in, but I do not think he requires a special visit at this time. I hope this information helps!
