My dog has bloody poop after anal gland expression. Is this normal?

Some specks of blood would not be uncommon after having severely impacted glands emptied but you should have them rechecked if it persistts longer than 3-5days or the pain returns. A fiber supplement such as glandex can help prevent recurrent issues

If she passed blood in her urine then that would be concerning for things that can affect the urinary tract such as a urinary tract infection, urine stones or even a tumor. She may have an infected anal sac or the mucous membrane of the rectum may be injured or she may have a rectal tumor. If the bleeding does not stop you will need to take her to a veterinarian or pet ER for an exam.

This could be completely normal after the surgery and could be due to an inflammation of the last part of the colon. As a first approach I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. If Zoey's anal sacs were really impacted, it may have been uncomfortable to have them expressed and he is still feeling uncomfortable. In addition, going to the vet is stressful for some dogs. I would keep an eye on her, and hopefully she's back to normal tomorrow. If not, I'd consider taking her back into the vet. I hope this helps!

If you are sure the bloody mucous is coming from Daisy's anal glands then it is likely she has an anal gland infection. Usually these require veterinary care to treat so if you continue to see blood you should have Daisy examined by a veterinarian. Antibiotics and an anal gland flushing may be necessary to treat. You can try offering Daisy some canned pumpkin to soften her stool a bit and make passing stool less uncomfortable and use an ecollar to prevent licking. Poor Roscoe! It's not normal to bleed from the anus after bowel movements, and the thing you see sticking out of his anus could be a tumor, impacted and infected anal sac, or his rectum could be prolapsed. Roscoe could see a vet right away for this, and I would bring him into a vet ASAP to be examined so this can be treated.
