Dog recovering from bloody diarrhea: mucus stool & dark urine normal?

As long as the stool was normal or close to normal, you can begin the transition back to the regular diet. Ideally, it should take 7-10 days to transition back. See how Teddy does tomorrow. If the stool is getting looser or more bloody, go back to a bland diet until it isn't, then restart the transition. Call your vet also and let him or her know that Teddy has loose/bloody stool again. A recheck may be recommended.

Hello, sorry to hear about Molly. Yes the dark stools are likely melena (digested blood) from her hemorrhagic enteritis which may take up to 10 days to resolve completely. As long as she is eating, not vomiting, and the frequency/volume/and consistency of her stools is improving, even if slowly, then Molly can continue to be monitored at home. If she develops inappetence, vomiting or recurrent diarrhea, then she should be evaluated by your veterinarian immediately. Hope this helps and best of luck.

If you are seeing continuing blood, this likely means Togi is not completely normal yet. Dogs should not have blood in their stool. Togi should be examined by the veterinarian. Ask about parasite testing (both worms and protozoal). I'm not sure what medication he had but pets are often given and antibiotic and a probiotic as well as a bland diet if bacteria is suspected. Sometimes a special diet is used (a hydrolyzed protein) if a food allergy is suspected but typically food allergy does not cause bleeding in the gut. Lastly, your veterinarian may want to have an x-ray to look for a foreign object in the intestines. I hope this helps and that they figure out the cause quickly.

Some mucus and blood streaks is quite common during recover, severe diarrhea episodes often cause some inflammation and injury to the lining of the bowel. Monitor closely for continued improvement or worsening signs

If he's eating and acting fine give him a day or two to settle into his new environment. The soft stool with blood may be due to stress. If it continues please take another sample in to check again for parasites as they can come back even if he's already been treated. If Teddy is acting sick do take him in sooner for an exam. The signs seems settling so I would not be extremely concerned at this stage. As a first approach, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
