My old dog's paw was stung by a bee. How do I treat the pain?

There's really nothing that safe to give him over the counter for pain. Apply a cool compress to the area but the pain will likely subside within a few hours. Monitor him for any swelling of the face or trouble breathing. Also make sure the stinger is out. I hope Hugo feels better quickly!

Ouch, poor Bongo! You did the right thing by taking out the stinger. Put a cold compress on it for five minutes at a time to help with the pain and swelling. Keep an eye on him. If his paw starts swelling despite the cold compress, he gets hives, he is in pain, or you see signs of anaphylactic shock, rush him into an ER vet immediately. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

I would just monitor the paw for now. You can apply an ice pack for 5-10 minutes 2-3 times per day to help with the discomfort or reduce any swelling that may occur. If Diva begins to have any other symptoms such as breathing difficulties, swelling of the face, etc. I would recommend getting her examined by a veterinarian for further treatment. You could bath her paw with cold (not icy!) water or apply cold packs on the affected paw but if it gets really swollen I would have her checked by your veterinarian as she might need and anti-inflammatory injection. You can cool the area where the sting is with some ice wrapped in a cloth. This will take the pain and reduce the swelling. By tomorrow the area should look normal again. If your puppy starts to vomit, gets breathing problems or appears ill, you will need to take it to a pet ER for treatment.

Poor Prco. Yellow jacket stings can be very painful! First check the area to make sure there is no sign of a stinger and remove it if it is seen. Make sure to keep her off of the foot. You can apply a cool, not cold, compress to her foot, this will help to relieve some of the pain and reduce some of the swelling. Keep her from licking the foot as this will only make it worse. If there is no swelling and if your dog does not experience any vomiting or trouble breathing, the discomfort should go away soon by itself. If Charlie keeps licking the area you can give him 1/2 a children's Benadryl which should take the itch.
