My dog stepped on a bee, stinger out. Should I worry about allergies?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd - miniature | Male | neutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 8 lbs

My dog just stepped on a bee, and I took out the sting from his paw. Dogs normally have allergies or it is nothing to worry about

Ouch, poor Bongo! You did the right thing by taking out the stinger. Put a cold compress on it for five minutes at a time to help with the pain and swelling. Keep an eye on him. If his paw starts swelling despite the cold compress, he gets hives, he is in pain, or you see signs of anaphylactic shock, rush him into an ER vet immediately. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
