Yes, you can use Augmentin but you are going to need a lot of 62.5mg tablets for a 42kg dog! The dose ranges from 5 to 12 mg per pound (10 to 25 mg/kg) twice a day. That means for a dog this size, he needs 420 to 1,050mg at each dose. Even using the lowest end of the dosing range you would have to give him 7 tablets twice a day.
