Is human Augmentin safe for my cat? What dosage should I use?

  Augmentin is not labeled for use in cats - there is a similar drug called Clavamox that is used in the veterinary world, but it can be difficult to convert the dosing accurately for dogs and cats since the two meds are not exactly the same. If you think your cat needs an antibiotic, I would recommend having her seen by a vet to confirm the problem and get an appropriate dosing schedule for her. Unfortunately, by law we cannot give dosing information or make any specific medication recommendations without examining the pet first.

  You should never use any medication without a prescription from a vet that has examined and diagnosed an appropriate condition in a pet. Human medications are not generally appropriate for cats as they are normally too strong and cannot be dosed accurately

  You should never give a medication meant for humans to a cat or dog unless your veterinarian prescribes it. This is because there may be other chemicals mixed in which may be detrimental to your animal. Please check with your veterinarian whether he thinks Augmentin is a proper medication for your cat.
