My dog ate underwear, vomiting, passing fabric. What to do at home?

Unfortunately, vomiting up a foreign body can only be done if the item was consumed in the past two hours, and given that you aren't sure when your pup ate your pillowcase, it may be too late to induce vomiting. There's nothing you can do to make her pass it quicker, and I would caution against using any human medications without veterinary approval or using a method you find on the internet as you may do harm to your pup. You can try giving her a slice of whole wheat bread now, and with every meal to form a ball of ingesta around the pillowcase to help cushion it as is passes through her GI tract. You can feed this piece of bread to her with every meal. I would monitor her for the next 72 hours of signs of obstruction, which include vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, lethargy, and constipation. Should you see any of those signs, please take her into the vet immediately. When you leave the house, I would recommend putting her in a crate, as that will keep her from getting into things while you are gone.

I would monitor her stool to see if there is any evidence of the fabric in her stool. If she is showing any symptoms such as vomiting, lethargy or decreased appetite then I would get her seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to have abdominal x-rays taken and an exam.

If he does not show signs of vomiting or abdominal pain and if he has normal appetite and he is passing normal stools you should monitor him at home. The signs of a foreign body / obstruction in the small intestine include vomiting, abdominal pain, lack of appetite, not passing stools at all. However if she tries to vomit and cannot produce anything, or if she continues to vomit liquids and refuses food, then this is concerning for a potential blockage and she should be taken to your vet right away. So monitor her for the next 24-48 hrs for any signs of a blockage which includes: excessive vomiting (even water), refusing food, few feces, +/- abdominal pain, and lethargy. If you aren't sure if she ingested any then you can fast her or if you haven't fed her yet have her seen for an X-ray. If she hasn't eaten in 12 hours or more she should have an empty stomach. If it is full then we'd be worried about fabric in her stomach. The other option is to wait and see if it becomes a problem. Signs of a blockage are lethargy, vomiting, not eating, and belly pain. If any of these symptoms occur then she would need to be seen right away. Since she is a bed destroyer I would recommend not allowing her access to beds, blankets, sheets or stuffed animals until she outgrow this. She will be fine sleeping on a hard surface. Underwear can get stuck in your dog's GI tract. If it does, that requires surgery to fix. If Maxine ate the underwear less than 2 hours ago, take her to your vet to induce vomiting to try to get it out. If it's been longer than 2 hours, you will need to monitor her for signs such as vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, and lethargy. If it has been less than 2 hours since your pet ate it, you can induce vomiting by giving an oral dose of hydrogen peroxide, about 1 cc per pound. One tablespoon is about 5 cc. A turkey baster will work if you don't have a syringe. Longer than two hours and it will have already moved into the intestines. If he does not produce the underwear, he needs to go to the vet right away. This could cause a blockage in his intestines, or it could cause the intestines to bunch up along the fabric and slow or even stop the blood supply to them. If left untreated, this condition can be deadly.
