Dog ate underwear, can't poop, and is scooting. What should I do?

You can give him 1/4 cup of canned pumpkin (pure pumpkin, not pie filling) twice a day to help push things through. Please do your best to keep him away from eating these type of objects. You are very lucky he passed them and they did not get stuck in his intestines. You may not be that lucky next time.

Underwear can get stuck in your dog's GI tract. If it does, that requires surgery to fix. If Maxine ate the underwear less than 2 hours ago, take her to your vet to induce vomiting to try to get it out. If it's been longer than 2 hours, you will need to monitor her for signs such as vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, and lethargy. Those signs can indicate the underwear is stuck in her GI tract, and she will need to see a vet immediately.

If he does not show signs of vomiting or abdominal pain and if he has normal appetite and he is passing normal stools you should monitor him at home. The signs of a foreign body / obstruction in the small intestine include vomiting, abdominal pain, lack of appetite, not passing stools at all. If you see any of these signs, you need to take Gianny to your vets right away.

Hello. If she is eating, drinking & still passing stools, then she may not need surgery. You definitely want to increase her intake of fluids. Supply low sodium broths or stocks for her to drink in addition to her fresh water. Switch to a wet diet & add a moderate amount of additional liquid to this, but not too much. You do not want to dilute the nutritional density of her food too much. Take 2 slices of bread & slather each piece with a layer of Vaseline & try to get her to eat this a piece at a time. If you can get one slice in her now, you can do the second piece later on or this evening. Hopefully this will lubricate her gut & push the rest of the material out of her. But if she stops eating & vomits everything, becomes bloated or shows abdominal pain, you will need to make a decision about her care. Poor Sully! It's good he passed the underwear, there was a risk of it causing an obstruction. He will be feeling sick from all the vomiting, and that will cause him to be lethargic. I wouldn't worry about the not pooping since he pooped this morning. Keep feeding him the bland diet for the next couple of days, and as he improves, slowly add back in his normal diet. I am sorry to hear about Apollo! If he is eating and drinking normally, not vomiting, has no abdominal pain and no lethargy, then I would continue to monitor him for another day or two. If he does show any of these signs he should be seen by his vet right away. You may consider adding a few teaspoons of canned pumpkin to his food to add some fiber in an attempt to help things pass through!
