My dog ate stones, they're not passing. Should I give pumpkin to help?

It will likely pass. The symptoms of an issue to look out for including vomiting/especially within an hour of eating, straining to defecate, not popping. If you are willing to sift through each bowel movement until you find the small stone, that will provide additional peace of mind. Otherwise screening abdominal x-rays at your vet can determine whether the stone is stuck somewhere and are recommended especially if vomiting/in appearance or straining to defecate are noted. Hello. Stones can either pass through the system without too much of an issue, or they can cause a huge problem and require surgery to take out. Unfortunately you are at a waiting game. If Paddy is eating/drinking, and normal in energy, then just keep watching him and don't worry. If he is fine after a few days you are OK. If Paddy starts vomiting, stops eating, is weak, sore when you touch his abdomen, or is having trouble pooping or not passing any feces, they you need to get him to a vet ASAP for some x-rays and possible surgery. Unfortunately it might happen, especially in the small intestine. Usually the signs (vomiting, abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, lethargy, inappetence) are seen in the following 48hours after ingestion. Hello. Puppies will swallow small sticks with no problems, but you can help them to pass by lubricating her gut. Feeding bread is good, but I like to smear the bread with some Vaseline & feed Lilly this. In addition, you can feed her 2 tablespoons of canned pumpkin ( not pie filling ) twice a day for the next few days. If she does not have any problems over the next 2-3 days, like vomiting, diarrhea ( some soft stool will be normal from the Vaseline & pumpkin ), or she quits eating, then she will be fine. It is a good sign that there isn't gas building up behind the stone, which may indicate some gas is still able to pass through, however it is best that your vet continues to monitor as this may change as the stone moves through the intestines, or if it becomes lodged in a section of intestine. I am really concerned about Pumkin head, especially since she has vomited up underwear and is continuing to act ill. One of my biggest concerns is that she could have something stuck in her intestines causing a blockage or obstruction. This is a surgical emergency, because something in the intestines has the potential to cause rupture of the intestines. The best way to diagnose this is with abdominal x-rays. If there is anyone who can help you out financially, bringing her to an emergency veterinarian right away is ideal. If you absolutely cannot, please ensure she has plenty of access to water. You may try offering her small amounts of a highly digestible diet, such as boiled chicken and boiled rice. I hope this is helpful - sorry to hear that she is so sick.

A few tablespoons of plain canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) or a tablespoon of Psyllium powder (unflavored) can help move things along. However the other symptoms you mentioned do sound concerning to me. Decreased appetite along with drinking more water frequently and constipation may signal a kidney function issue, liver issue, or may be due the development of diabetes among other causes. My recommendation would be to have Pretty girl seen by her veterinarian as soon as possible for an exam and perhaps some blood work to check her organ function as there may be an underlying health issue here.
