My dog ate part of my shoe. Should I see a vet or just monitor?

If Zoe did not eat a lot, this likely will pass without problem. There is a chance it could cause an obstruction or GI upset, so monitor her for signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or anorexia. If you see any of those signs, have her seen by a vet. Best of luck.

Oh no, that's not good that Boone ate your laces. Hopefully these will pass without problem, but there is a chance they could become stuck in his GI tract and cause a linear foreign body. I would monitor him for signs of obstruction, which include vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and lethargy. Should you see any of those signs, I would take Boone into the vet right away. If the laces becomes stuck, he will need surgery to remove them.

This will likely exit the body with feces. It is not really big enough to cause trouble in a dog the sixe of a Shetland Sheep dog. I would monitor his poop and check it for the next three or four days. You will probably find it. If your dog starts having diarrhea or/and vomiting then you will need to take him to a vet as it might have gotten stuck somewhere. The same is valid if his stool turns black, or if there is frank blood in the stool.

I never recommend including vomiting at home because the substance used at home causes esophagitis and gastritis, often worse than the initial problem. Plus, the shoe could become stuck in his esophagus, leading to a very serious situation. You can take him into a vet now to have vomiting safely induced with a shot, or you can chose to monitor him. Hi, it is probably safer to have him checked over. He could be having gastritis or it could be that pieces of the leather belt are causing a partial obstruction. Your vet will be able to tell what’s the best way forwards after having him checked over. Hope all goes well !

If he chewed it into small enough bits, it may pass on its own. If he swallowed big chunks, there is a risk of obstruction. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. Seek veterinary attention if Cody develops any of these symptoms.
