My dog ate an eraser. Does she need a vet visit if she's fine?

Silly Kobe! It’s always amazing what dogs will chew on. It doesn’t look like he likely ingested much of the marker, and if he DID swallow any of it he probably chewed it up pretty good. I would monitor him for now, and check his poop to make sure anything he did eat is padding (may take 24-48h). If you notice Kobe starting to become lethargic, if he’s off his food, or start to vomit then please take him to your vet for evaluation. The vet will likely need some X-rays to check for intestinal obstruction. If Kobe has evidence of an obstruction he may need surgery to remove it. I hope Kobe does ok. Monitor him carefully, and supervise him carefully (even lock him in a kennel if you aren’t home) to help prevent accidental infections in the future.

You can monitor her for signs of GI obstruction which would include vomiting, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, and lethargy. If these occur, then she should see her vet right away, but I don't expect that to occur with the small amounts she may have ingested, they will likely just pass through her GI tract. You can feed her something high in fiber to help the passing, such as a piece of whole wheat bread or a teaspoon or two of canned pumpkin.

It depends. Even with small objects, there is always the risk of intestinal obstruction. If going to the vet now for induction of vomiting is not an option, I recommend that you feed several slices of plain bread as sometimes this will bulk things up and aid in natural passage. Watch Ziggy for a couple weeks for signs of obstruction, including vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or inappetence.

The only thing you should do right now is to monitor her for any signs of an obstruction which includes: excessive vomiting (especially water), decreased appetite, lethargy and little to no stool production. This sounds like something that should pass through with no problems, but just keep an eye on here tonight and definitely get her seen by a vet tomorrow if she develops any concerning symptoms. You can also try feeding her a piece of bread 1-2 times a day to help bind up the rubber and help facilitate its passage through her GI tract.
