My dog ate Reese's Puffs. What should I do if he starts feeling sick?

My dog ate some reese puffs and has a tender chest but no other side affects currently what do i do?

Just keep an eye on Lilly for now. This may at most cause her some GI upset. If you do see some GI upset, I can give you a home remedy for her. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Wow, what an awful experience for you! You did the right thing by taking her away from him. The good news is that dogs can't get STDs from humans, so there is no concerns there. It could be the experience upset her so much that it caused her to be lethargic and vomit. I'm not sure if Reeses is still vomiting, but if she isn't, I would continue to monitor her for now. If she had vomiting today on her walk home, I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.

If you did observe the trainer spitting in her mouth, that's not normal or accepted standards of treatment, and I would speak to your vet to see if there is someone with which you can make a report of his behavior.

My dog ate Reese's cups and foil, now throwing up. What should I do?

Oh no, it's not good that MJ ate an entire bag of Reese's cups! While one doesn't contain a lot of chocolate, an entire bag of them may be enough to cause chocolate toxicity, one sign of which is vomiting. Because of this and his currently symptoms, I would take him into a vet immediately for treatment. He needs decontamination procedures in case he is suffering from chocolate toxicity. There is also the potential that enough foils could cause a GI blockage, and that needs to be ruled in or out as well. Either take him into your normal vet or find an ER vet clinic or vet on call if your normal vet is closed. Best of luck!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Luna. One Reeces cup likely does not contain enough chocolate to cause toxicity based on her size. It can, however, cause gastrointestinal upset or even a more serious condition known as pancreatitis. If she develops vomiting or diarrhea, then she should see her veterinarian. If she is allergic to any of the ingredients, inflamed skin could result. That being said, her skin changes could be the result of something else especially if it has happened before. You can bathe her with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula to soothe the skin. If this does not help, then she should see her veterinarian. What a scary experience! I totally understand being concerned. The chocolate in reeses cups is mostly sugar and milk, so even eating 6 and even being so small, Elliott should be ok. It's still a good idea to keep an eye out for vomiting, diarrhea, agitation, and shaking/tremors. If you see any of those signs, I'd recommend going to a vet for supportive care.

Monitor for gastrointestinal upset (vomiting and/or diarrhea). You may want to withhold food for the next 24 hours, allowing small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. If Louis develops GI upset, the fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts will typically resolve the issue. Transition slowly to his regular diet after symptoms abate. If they don't or if he develops lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain, have him examined by your veterinarian.

Rio is probably pretty uncomfortable from all that sugar and calories! I would pick up his regular food for a few hours, then offer a bland meal of boiled chicken and rice to help settle any stomach upset. If he starts to act very ill such as vomiting a lot, diarrhea for more than a day or so, blood in either, a painful to touch abdomen, or attempting to vomit or defecate without being able to, bring him into your vet ASAP for care as these are all signs of something more serious.
