My dog ate rat poison a week ago, seems fine. Should I still worry?

Marley will likely be fine now. I suggest you take her to your veterinarian for a coagulation panel in about 7 days, just in case some of the anticoagulant in the poison (if this was the anticoagulant type) dis get absorbed. Watch for signs of illness (neurological such as seizures, or increased thirst...there are a few other types of rat poison which can cause this) and if these occur, please take your dog to the vet. Apart from that, if all the poison was regurgitated within a relatively short time after ingestion, your dog should be fine.

Regardless of the dose ingested, it is recommended to at the very least start then on vitamin k which can help tremendously if in fact Roxy got anywhere near her toxic dose. This is an inexpensive and easy to implement therapy. She is not at a point that any effects are expected as it is too early in the course for that. I don't know all the details about his case and what his bloodwork looked like, but if the vet said he should be fine, then it appears everything checked out ok. I know how it is to worry about your pet and wanting extra confirmation that things are fine. Decon is a highly toxic rat bait that cause death through the disruption of calcium and phosphorus ratio by absorption of vitamin D. Even very small quantities are toxic as only a .1mg/kg dose is known to start producing toxic effects. Also troubling is that clinical signs are sometimes not present for days after the ingestion. As a result, I would highly recommend bring Luna to your local ER for 24-48 hours of IV fluid therapy, Activated Charcoal, and generalized GI support. The use of charcoal in many toxic exposures is useful in up to and further than 24 hours in some cases. I would also encourage you to open up an active case to the ASPCA poison control hot line and provide the case number to your veterinarian should you go this route. It is about 65 dollar but gives you and your vet access to a board certified veterinary toxicologist. Hope this makes sense.

Mila should be seen by a veterinarian immediately. This product is an anti-coagulant poison that inhibits normal blood clotting and leads to internal bleeding. Fortunately, there is an effective antidote (Vitamin K) but it's important to make sure you minimize the amount of poison Mila absorbs, and get her started on the antidote. Depending on the timing of the ingestion, your vet may make Mila vomit, and may give her something to minimize absorption, or they may recommend testing her current blood clotting ability. It can take between 1-7 days for signs of toxicity to occur, so you won't know if Bella is safe until about a week later. While this rat poison has a different mechanism of action that has been advertised as being less harmful to dogs, it has been reported to cause issues in dogs including anemia, gastrointestinal upset, among other symptoms. For that reason, I would recommend that you contact the ASPCA poison control center as they specialize in the more uncommon toxicities in dogs and will have more information on how to proceed from here. Otherwise, have him evaluated by a veterinarian so that they can contact the poison control center for you and proceed with the treatment recommendations.
