My dogs ate 120 Pet-Eze chews. Should I make them vomit?

This may not be enough to cause any problems, and I would just keep an eye on them. Rest them, avoid taking them for a walk, and don't give them any more food until the morning. Hello. I am more concerned about the glucosamine content of these chews. Very large doses have been associated with acute liver injury, so if Layla ingested the chews in the past 2 hours, you should get her to an emergency vet for decontamination & possibly started on IV fluids to minimize possible damage. If the chews were ingested more than 2 hours ago, you should still see a veterinarian where activated charcoal may be administered to try & minimize absorption of the glucosamine & to have her liver values monitored over the next few days. Oh no, how naughty of Bentley! While not overly common, it has been shown that overdoses of joint supplements can lead to liver damage. Unfortunately, there is not much information known about the specific dose of glucosamine that can lead to this liver insult. For this reason, I do recommend taking Bentley to an emergency vet fairly urgently. They will be able to check his current blood chemistry to check his liver values and will likely recommend hospitalization for monitoring, IV fluids, and liver support medications. I do not recommend inducing vomiting since giving hydrogen peroxide can cause esophageal irritation. Glycosamine is very safe so they should be fine. I would monitor them closely. They may vomit on their own, have diarrhea or be fine with no issues. Dogs are natural scavengers so they often are fine eating things they shouldn't and in large quantities. If they start acting lethargic or ill then I would certainly take them in for an exam and treatment. They may give fluids or activated charcoal to absorb the glycosamine. Hello! Fortunately that is a very safe medication that we even use in dogs. It can cause some vomiting and diarrhea that usually goes away on its own. Watch closely for signs of dehydration if vomiting occurs and if there are any significant behavior changes that concern you, than a vet visit would be warranted.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I recommend getting Zeke to the vet IMMEDIATELY to attempt to get Zeke to vomit up the tampons. Tampons very regularly cause blockages of the gut as they grow as they absorb water. The drug that your vet will use likely will be something called 'apomorphine' and this works much much better at making dogs vomit than other methods, and is much safer. Please get Zeke to a vet right away. The longer you wait the longer the risk that the tampons will leave the stomach and go into the intestines where they will get stuck, and at that point surgery is your only option. At worst, you may see some vomiting and/or diarrhea. These can typically be managed at home with a 24 hour fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to the regular diet afterwards. Symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian include lethargy, persistent stomach upset, loss of appetite or abdominal pain.
