My dog ate Panadol. Is Paracetamol toxic to dogs? What to do?

In dogs high doses (100mg/kg body weight) are needed to induce toxicity - which results in liver and kidney failure and other side effects. The dosage your Border Collie ingested should be relatively safe (50mg/kg), but I would strongly recommend a check up anyway to give gastroprotectants medications and reduce gastrointestinal absorption.

This type of intoxication can be extremely dangerous and lead to serious consequences. Side effects would depend on the dose. Hi there! According to my drug handbook, although we don't often use acetaminophen in dogs, the dose would be 170mg on the high end for Bella's size. If she truly ate 1/4 of the 500mg tablet it would be about 125mg, and she should be fine. However, if she ate more than 170mg, overdose is a concern. If Bella were my patient, I would recommend evaluating some lab work to check her red blood cells and liver enzymes just to be sure there aren't any issues developing. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Panadol contains Acetaminophen which is extremely toxic to cats. Whether Kattu with be ok depends on his weight and the dose that was given to him. At toxic doses it causes an issue with red blood cell oxygen carrying abilities and is seen with in 1-4 hours of ingestion and can last 12-48 hours or until death. Clinical signs include cyanosis (blue gums), difficulty breathing, fast breathing, depression, low body temperature weakness, facial edema, and/or edema of the feet. It can also cause liver toxicity, which can develop 24-48 hours after exposure. Clinical signs are jaundice, vomiting, abdominal pain and not eating. It can also rarely cause kidney damage 1-2 days later. Dry eye can devlop 48-72 hours later. Kattu should be hospitalized and be monitored at a 24 hour facility. I wish Kattu the best

The effects of acetaminophen poisoning in dogs are quite serious, often causing non-repairable liver damage. Dogs will typically experience acetaminophen toxicity at over 75 mg per kg body weight - Lady Girl ingested 1000mg and the toxic dose for her would be around 2,200 mg (if she truly is 65#). She may be OK or she may get sick. There is no way to know. At this point you will just have to monitor her and see. The most common symptoms that you may notice in pets suffering from acetaminophen toxicity include: Brownish-gray colored gums Labored breathing Swollen face, neck or limbs Hypothermia (reduced body temperature) Vomiting Jaundice (yellowish color to skin, whites of eyes), due to liver damage Coma If you notice any of those signs you need to get her to a vet right away. If she has a problem with her hock (ankle) you need to get her to a vet for an exam. That way you get a proper diagnosis as to what is actually wrong with her leg and then get a medication made for dogs to help her. Oh dear! I'm afraid that B needs to be seen by an emergency vet immediately. The toxic dose of Tylenol in dogs is considered to be 50-100 mg/kg. If B ate 12 500 mg tablets, this is a total of 6000 mg - with his body weight, this works out to 600 mg/kg, which is far above the amount that can cause serious toxicity issues or even death. I would recommend taking him to your nearest emergency clinic right away for treatment.

Did he just bite it open, or did he also ingest the content? If he also ingested the content, you should take Koda to your vet right away where they can make her regurgitate her stomach contents and with it hopefully the ingested Paracetamol. And you need to go to a vet now.
