My 95lb dog ate milk chocolate. Is this dangerous? What should I do?

The toxic dose for milk chocolate is about 5g per each pound of body weight. So, your Stella would have to eat about 70g of milk chocolate before we would recommend any treatment. She should be fine, I don't expect she will develop any concerning symptoms at all

Toxicity is based on type of chocolate and the weight of the amount eaten. Watch fro tummy upset: vomit, diarrhea, lethargy, not want to eat. I wish you and Moose the best!

It can, however, cause gastrointestinal upset or even a more serious condition known as pancreatitis. If she develops vomiting or diarrhea, then she should see her veterinarian. If she is allergic to any of the ingredients, inflamed skin could result. That being said, her skin changes could be the result of something else especially if it has happened before. You can bathe her with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula to soothe the skin. If this does not help, then she should see her veterinarian. The severity of this depends on the type of chocolate. 60g of milk chocolate is not likely to cause any problems in a 50# dog. If this was Baker's chocolate this could be severe. So, please post again and let us know what type of chocolate it was. Then we can help you better.

If it is just the typical granola bar that only contains a few chips then she is likely going to be ok but again would depend on the amount. If this happened recently within the last 2 hours, there is still time to induce vomiting. You can always contact ASPCS animal poison center to let them know exactly how much chocolate there is which will depend on the type of bars (let them know the kind). But that amount of cookies could cause tummy upset or pancreatitis. If Mulan starts vomiting, having diarrhea or won't eat then make an appointment with your Vet. I hope this helps and good luck!
