My dog ate a lot of marshmallow eggs. Is he going to be okay?

Hello. It is possible, depending on how much Mijah ate. All that sugar can cause what we call an osmotic diarrhea by pulling excess water out of the ingesta in the intestines. Most of these diarrheas are self-limiting, so if Mijah feels like eating you can feed a bland diet of 25% boiled chicken & 75% white rice or low fat cottage cheese. Feed small amounts more frequently over the next 2-3 days, & the stool should start to firm up. If she shows any signs of abdominal pain, starts vomiting, or you see blood in the diarrhea, please see your vet as soon as possible. Thanks for using Pet Coach.

Rio is probably pretty uncomfortable from all that sugar and calories! I would pick up his regular food for a few hours, then offer a bland meal of boiled chicken and rice to help settle any stomach upset. If he starts to act very ill such as vomiting a lot, diarrhea for more than a day or so, blood in either, a painful to touch abdomen, or attempting to vomit or defecate without being able to, bring him into your vet ASAP for care as these are all signs of something more serious.

Pippa sounds like she has a very upset stomach! If the egg was filled with candy, she could become very ill, especially if there was a large amount of chocolate in the egg. If this was a boiled egg, she should be fine if she has a strong stomach normally. If she has a very sensitive stomach, any new food treat or new food item could give her severe vomiting and/or diarrhea. If she starts to have vomiting or diarrhea that doesn't resolve quickly, or if she is very lethargic and depressed, you need to take her to the vet for supportive care right away.

It depends on the size of the dog and the amount she ate, but chances are good that, unless she ate several pounds of M&Ms, she will likely only end up with a sore belly and possibly diarrhea. If she ate them less than 1 hour ago, you can induce vomiting by giving an oral dose of hydrogen peroxide, about 1 cc per pound. One tablespoon is about 5 cc. A turkey baster will work if you don't have a syringe. Longer than an hour and it will have already moved into the intestines. Ideally, your pet should be seen by your veterinarian to ensure that she will be okay. Your vet will do an exam and possibly bloodwork to determine if any further treatment is needed.

Yes, she may have some vomiting and/or diarrhea. I don't think you should do anything differently. Usually these symptoms are self-limiting, meaning they will go away on their own with no treatment. If the symptoms last longer than 48 hours then you need to take her to a vet for an exam.
