My cat ate a marshmallow. Is it toxic? Should I take her to the vet?

She should be fine. Just keep an eye on her and do not induce vomiting. She may have vomiting or diarrhea but probably not. If so she should be better in a day or so. If she should become lethargic or have stomach pain or severe diarrhea then certainly take her in for treatment right away. Xylitol toxicity occurs between 15-30 minutes after ingestion, and if it's been over 30 minutes and she is fine, she may not have eaten it. Either that, or the bit she ate was not big enough to cause any problems. I'd keep an eye on her for now, but if she is fine by tomorrow morning, there will be no need to worry. I hope this helps.

Candies and smarties contains different type of sugars and possibly xylitol and chocolate, which are both toxic to dogs and cats. An immediate check up is required to make your cat sick and give medication to reduce gastrointestinal absorption of toxics. I think Mirz will likely be fine. The most toxic chocolate is the unsweetened baker's chocolate. Milk chocolate and white chocolate are the least toxic. It doesn't sound like she got enough to make her sick based on what you said above. I recommend you just monitor her closely for any abnormal behavior or symptoms. If the lollipop had some sort of gum or filling, it can cause an obstruction in her intestines. If she also ate the stick, that may cause problems such as a perforation, especially if the stick was plastic. The sugar content may make Hazel slightly hyper or shaky as well. I recommend bringing her to the vet if you are worried, as any of the conditions above are easier to treat the earlier they are diagnosed.
