My dog ate a garbage wrapper and is throwing up. Should I see a vet?

It's best to take her to the vet considering the amount of chocolate ingested is unknown and she was vomiting (an early sign of chocolate toxicity). It's also concerning that she ate the wrappers, because these can cause problems in the intestines as well. The vets will be able to monitor Rane for further signs of toxicity and give medication as necessary to keep things from getting worse. I hope that helps and all is well with Rane.

If this happened recently, ie within the past 2 hours or so, you should take him to a vet for inducing vomiting. If this has been longer then you need to watch your dog for a tummy ache, diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, as he could get pancreatitis from the food he is not used to. Also the wrappers could cause trouble. Watch his feces, wrappers should show up as they pass through the intestinal canal. If he shows any signs of discomfort, please take him to a veterinarian or Pet ER.

If the cupcakes did not have chocolate or raisins and the piece of plastic wrap was relatively small it should be safe to monitor her for a few days. If she begins vomiting, if she develops diarrhea or if her appetite is decreased then I’d recommend seeing your vet.

You may see some GI upset (vomiting and/or diarrhea). Patriot should be able to pass the small wrappers in the next 24-48 hours. Monitor for vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. See your vet if necessary. You may want to feed a bland diet (boiled boneless/skinless chicken breast and plain white rice) for a few days.

Oh no, it's not good that MJ ate an entire bag of Reese's cups! While one doesn't contain a lot of chocolate, an entire bag of them may be enough to cause chocolate toxicity, one sign of which is vomiting. Because of this and his currently symptoms, I would take him into a vet immediately for treatment. He needs decontamination procedures in case he is suffering from chocolate toxicity. There is also the potential that enough foils could cause a GI blockage, and that needs to be ruled in or out as well. Either take him into your normal vet or find an ER vet clinic or vet on call if your normal vet is closed. Best of luck!

Since last night was Halloween, think about if there's anything she could have eaten that she shouldn't have and take her to the vet ASAP if you realize your chocolate stash or your entire pan of bacon wrapped something or anothers from the potluck is missing. If you can't think of anything she ate, it's generally ok to wait 24 hours to see if she get back on her food naturally. Sometimes something goes wrong in the gut and we don't know why but it resolves quickly. If she's not back to normal in 24 hours, or has any vomiting or diarrhea in the mean time, she needs to go to her vet for evaluation and supportive care. As long as he is eating and drinking normally, I would not be concerned. If he begins to vomit or loses his appetite, then I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at him and perform some diagnostic testing such as x-rays to help rule out a foreign body obstruction from the plastic.
