My dog ate a cranberry or raisin from trail mix. Is he okay?

Hello. This is always a bit of a quandary because there are no hard rules for raisin & grape consumption in small amounts. A few raisins in a 60-pound dog is probably or no consequence, but some dogs can react to just one. Personally, I would just watch Buddy. Most problems will develop in 6-24 hours, & consist of vomiting &/or diarrhea. If any of these should develop, get to your vet immediately. No vomiting or diarrhea by 48 hours, then he will be fine. However, we don't know the exact mechanism of toxicity in grapes and raisins, so I cannot give you a 100% guarantee that there's no danger. You may see some gastrointestinal upset (vomiting and/or diarrhea) in the next 4-12 hours. The ingredients should not cause anything worse. Withhold food for 12 hours then offer a bland diet in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to the regular diet afterwards. Monitor for lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain.

Fortunately nothing in this list is dangerous for him even in high amounts, as far as this goes he should be fine, he might suffer from some diarrhea or vomiting but nothing serious. regarding the UTI though, this product will probably not solve the condition, you will have to take him to the vet in order to have a course of antibiotics.
