My dog ate a cooked chicken bone an hour ago. Should I worry?

If there is some diarrhea but Indy is still eating and playing and active, im still not terribly concerned. But if vomiting starts or you’re seeing lethargy or loss of appetite, it’s time to head in to the vet as soon as possible. Hope this helps and best of luck to you and Indy!

Hello again. As I said earlier, the bone was digested/dissolved. A single piece of cooked bone would have no problems being digested & passing normally through the GI tract. If he has been symptom free for a day, he will continue to be symptom free. If you like, you can continue the pumpkin for another day, but this is not absolutely necessary. He will be fine. If Jackson is eating and having normal bowel movements, he may have passed the fragments without your noticing. If Jaxson is. I'm not sure how big Joey is, but in my experience it would be uncommon for a single chicken wing (or half of one) to cause any problems unless he's a very tiny dog. I would monitor him closely for the next couple of days for any signs of a problem - like repeated episodes of vomiting, acting lethargic, or not wanting to eat. These can be signs of an obstruction or damage to the intestines, so he should see a vet right away if you notice any problems. But as long as he's eating and drinking and acting normal, you shouldn't need to worry :)

Bones usually are digested in the stomach but they may form gastro-intestinal obstruction or cause constipation. If Dolbie starts to vomit, strain to pass faeces, is passing stools with blood or not passing any stools at all for longer than 24hrs, you will have to take him to your local vets right away. If after 48hrs he does not develop any symptoms, it will mean that he is out of danger.

Instead, you should monitor Riku at home for the next 24-48hrs for symptoms of vomiting, lack of appetite, lethargy difficulties to defecate. If you see any of them, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment as these symptoms would suggest gastrointestinal obstruction. However, most likely the little bones will be digested rapidly in the stomach and Riku will not show any worrying symptoms at all.
