My dog ate a cooked chicken bone. What symptoms should I watch for?

The bones typically pass but depending on how well they were chewed and broken. The larger pieces may cause an obstruction while the smaller ones can cause inflammation and bloody diarrhea. You should watch for vomiting and diarrhea, with blood. if that is noted, then I would have your vet check him to make sure things are passing normally and he doesn't require hospitalization or assists.

Monitor for vomiting, constipation, blood in the stools and lack of appetite, if any of them are showing these symptoms- take them to the vet ASAP in order to be checked and treated for a possible obstruction or foreign body ingestion.

As long as Radar does not show any worrying symptoms at the moment and his energy level is normal you should monitor him at home. However, if he starts to vomit, passing stools with blood, or having difficulties to pass stools, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment right away.

I'm not sure how big Joey is, but in my experience it would be uncommon for a single chicken wing (or half of one) to cause any problems unless he's a very tiny dog. I would monitor him closely for the next couple of days for any signs of a problem - like repeated episodes of vomiting, acting lethargic, or not wanting to eat. These can be signs of an obstruction or damage to the intestines, so he should see a vet right away if you notice any problems. But as long as he's eating and drinking and acting normal, you shouldn't need to worry :)

Hello. If Pie seems to be fine, then I would not worry. Most times the bone will be easily digested & pass on through. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! In general, if there hasn’t been a problem for 48 hours, you’re in the clear. Continue feeding Indy as usual. If there is some diarrhea but Indy is still eating and playing and active, im still not terribly concerned. But if vomiting starts or you’re seeing lethargy or loss of appetite, it’s time to head in to the vet as soon as possible. Hope this helps and best of luck to you and Indy!

Yes, it is possible that the vomiting was due to an obstruction from the chicken bone, but it could also be due to running around like a lunatic. I would monitor Jax for now. If he continues to vomit, becomes lethargic, anorexia, and/or develops diarrhea, I would have him seen by a vet immediately.
