My dog ate bones and threw up. Should I be worried about him?

If there is some diarrhea but Indy is still eating and playing and active, im still not terribly concerned. But if vomiting starts or you’re seeing lethargy or loss of appetite, it’s time to head in to the vet as soon as possible. Hope this helps and best of luck to you and Indy!

It could be due to dietary indiscretion or even more concerning due to a gastrointestinal obstruction. The fact that Bailey ate dinner and did not vomit makes me think that it is less likely for this to be an obstruction though if the vomiting resumes or he stops eating, he should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello. If Pie seems to be fine, then I would not worry. Most times the bone will be easily digested & pass on through. If he should develop any vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, hard bloated abdomen, or loss of appetite, please have him seen by your veterinarian. Your dog still may vomit the bone or some of the bone fragments and she will probably have an upset stomach for a day or so. She will probably also develop diarrhea or soft stools because of ingesting the bones. Keep a close eye on her and if the vomiting lasts more than 24 hours or she starts having bloody stools, you will need to take her to the veterinarian. I'd keep an eye on Remington for now. Given that he's pretty much acting normally, except for the vomiting, it's not something I would be too worried about at this point in time. Now if he keeps vomiting, has diarrhea, stops pooping, is very lethargic, or has a loss of appetite, then I would be worried and rush him into a vet immediately. Hopefully, however, the nylabone will be broken down by his stomach acid and pass without issue. I hope this helps!

Instead, you should monitor Riku at home for the next 24-48hrs for symptoms of vomiting, lack of appetite, lethargy difficulties to defecate. If you see any of them, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment as these symptoms would suggest gastrointestinal obstruction. However, most likely the little bones will be digested rapidly in the stomach and Riku will not show any worrying symptoms at all.

Bones usually are digested in the stomach but they may form gastro-intestinal obstruction or cause constipation. If Dolbie starts to vomit, strain to pass faeces, is passing stools with blood or not passing any stools at all for longer than 24hrs, you will have to take him to your local vets right away. If after 48hrs he does not develop any symptoms, it will mean that he is out of danger.
