My large dog ate a chocolate chip cookie with big chunks. Is it toxic?

The amount of chocolate he ate in those cookies and the size he is makes me feel that he's probably going to be fine. The amount of chocolate and the darkness of it are the main factors, along with the size of your dog in determining if he will have adverse effects. Monitor him for vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, muscle rigidity, rapid breathing without exertion, or increased body temperature. If he displays ony of these symptoms, get him to a vet right away.

I see he's a good sized dog at 55lbs, so chances are eating this cookie is not going to cause him any problems. At most, you may see some GI upset, but I wouldn't be surprised if you don't see anything at all. It can take up to 24 hours for signs of chocolate toxicity to occur, so monitor him over this time period. Do not let him get ahold of any more cookies! I hope this helps!

Pepe will likely be fine unless he is unusually sensitive. White chocolate has the lowest concentration of the chocolates. He may experience some vomiting or diarrhea or he may have no signs at all. To be safe, watch for signs of toxicity such as tremoring, seizures and hyper excitability. If you want to be proactive in regards to possible GI upset, you can feed him a bland diet of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% plain boiled white rice tonight and tomorrow morning. It would take 3 oz of milk chocolate before there would be any concern for toxicity in a 20 lb dog and I doubt there is that much chocolate in a cookie. If Twinkle begins vomiting, develops diarrhea or develops muscle tremors or extreme restlessness you should see a veterinarian.

That was naughty of Buddy to steal the cookie! Luckily two or three chocolate chips will not be enough to causing any toxicity, so there is no need to take him into a vet. Good news for you and him :-)

But that amount of cookies could cause tummy upset or pancreatitis. If Mulan starts vomiting, having diarrhea or won't eat then make an appointment with your Vet. I hope this helps and good luck!
