My dog ate my Celebrex capsule. What should I do immediately?

This is a very high dose for a 20lb dog and some effects are likely to be seen. If it was eaten within the last 90 minutes, then it's best to take him to a vet so they can induce vomiting and give other treatment to prevent absorption of the drug. At this dose he is in danger of having tremors and possibly seizures, it's best to take him to the vet as soon as possible for treatment and monitoring. Dosage of Carprofen for a dog his size is about half of that, which means most chances it won't have a huge effect on him if he only had one pill of 75mg but do watch him for signs such as vomiting, lack of appetite and blood in the stools. if you notice any of those- take him to your vet immediately.

The big problem with an overdose of meloxicam (or any other NSAID) is that it can definitively result in side effects such as gastrointestinal ulceration (which may manifest as black, tarry stools which basically means digested blood), kidney disease, liver disease and gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting, diarrhea and anorexia. I advice that you take Katie to a veterinarian (perhaps a bit farther from you) for evaluation and further treatment. If it has been less than 2 hours, vomiting could still be induced which could make the outcome better. If there is no way possible you can do that then take her first thing in the morning tomorrow. As long as the smaller dog doesn't have any pre-existing liver or kidney issues, its unlikely that this will be a problem. Watch for vomiting, diarrhea, or decreased appetite, or lethargy; if you notice any of these symptoms, take him to the vet for an exam and bloodwork. Oh dear! This is a pretty significant overdose, and NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like Previcox have a fairly narrow margin of safety in dogs. Overdoses like this can result in severe stomach ulcers, internal bleeding, or even kidney failure. Since she got such a large dose, I would really recommend taking her to the vet right away for treatment. He/she can give her an injection to induce vomiting to help get any remaining pills out of her stomach before they can be absorbed, and may also recommend giving her IV fluids and starting medication to help protect her stomach to try and prevent any problems.

Fortunately this dose is low enough that it should not cause a concern, as long as you are certain more than one capsule was not ingested. Hunter may have ingested 8 mg/kg of ibuprofen based on the weight you provided. Ibuprofen can cause stomach and intestinal ulcers at doses higher than 25 mg/kg and kidney damage at 120 mg/kg. I would still recommend monitoring him for signs of nausea or diarrhea, but veterinary intervention is not required. Excedrin is highly toxic to dogs due to the aspirin, caffeine, and acetaminophen in it. All three of these ingredients are toxic to dogs. You will see vomiting, and there will be other damage that may take days for symptoms to appear, such as liver damage and GI ulcers. If your dog ate excedrin, she needs to see a vet immediately. I do not know how much she ate, how much she weighs, or the strength of the pills she has eaten, so I can't say for certain how long it will take for side effects to appear. I can say for certain she does need to see a vet now because this drug is toxic to dogs.
