My dog ate an aluminum tray. He vomited, but seems fine. Vet tomorrow?

Yes if it was chewed well then hopefully it will pass out. I recommend feeding more food to help it pass quickly with the food. If he stops eating, becomes painful or is straining to poop without anything being passed then you should take him in for treatment, I expect he will recover without treatment. If he is eating and drinking normally, and does not throw up after he eats, he may be ok. The only way to know for sure is to take him in for xrays. Your vet may want to do a barium study to actually see if the cap is still somewhere in his GI tract, as plastic often does not show up on a regular X-ray. There is a chance that he has passed it or will pass it in his stool. If he keeps throwing up, or starts acting lethargic and puny, or doesn't want to eat, you can't wait any longer and need to see your vet. Hope that helps!

Hello, thank you for the question. Based on the symptoms that you have described as well as the passage of foreign material in his stool I would recommend having your dog seen by a veterinarian. It is possible that there is more foreign material in his GI tract or he may have residual inflammation from passing something abnormal. It sounds like he seems stable overall, so I think it would be ok to wait to see your regular veterinarian tomorrow. Did he eat anything red in colors? Treats? If he did it may be from that. If he is acting fine and not lethargic, eating well, no bloody diarrhea, no more vomiting then I would say you can wait until tomorrow. It will be OK for you to wait until the morning and see how Charlie does overnight. Watch him closely for any vomiting and diarrhea. These are two symptoms of an intestinal blockage. Based on Charlie's size and the photo of the necklace you provided, I think that may pass without incident. Feed him as usual in the morning and see if he can keep the food down. Not necessarily--most dogs do just fine with occasional forays into the trash! Watch for excessive vomiting that lasts longer than 1-2 hours, and be advised that Lucy might develop diarrhea at any time as well. As long as she is bright, alert, eating, and acting like her normal self there is probably no need to take her to the clinic.

You could try feeding Aura some bulky food like canned food - if the pieces of glass were small they could pass. Otherwise I’d recommend making an appointment to see your vet when they open. They would probably recommend taking an x-ray. If Aura vomits or has a decrease in appetite I’d recommend seeing an emergency veterinarian.
