What to do if my dog's anal gland is sticking out? Vet or groomer?

I am very sorry to hear about Charlie. He definitely needs veterinary care for this issue. This could be an ulcerated tumor that has become infected or if it is not actually hanging from the skin it could be an infection of the anal sacs or a perianal fistula. He may require surgery for this issue, and may need antibiotics if the area is infected.

Ouch, poor Luna! Based on the pictures you provided (thank you for that!), they do not look overly red, swollen, and there are no signs of blood. As long as she is eating and drinking normally, going to the bathroom normally, and otherwise behaving normally, she can wait until the morning to see the vet. I would put an Ecollar on her to prevent her from licking at her anus, and you can make one at home. I will put a link below on how to do that. If she is in a lot of pain, isn't eating, is lethargic, and/or is having trouble going to the bathroom, then I would take her into a vet now. If this is the tail gland (Viol's gland) of your dog in the photo, then it is severely infected and needs to be cleaned and treated by a veterinarian. You should not normally even see the gland. Sometimes a tumor can develop there. Please schedule a vet appointment for Tucker.

More draining could be normal since the anal glands were infected and she is being treated. Not sure what the protrusion could be but sometimes the inner lining of the anus/rectum when swollen, tend to roll outwards giving the appearance of a protrusion. Your vet can check her again to make sure everything is going as planned. Good luck and I hope Peaches gets over this soon.

Poor Snowie! If you see tissue protruding from his rectum, this could be a rectal prolapse, a tumor of some kind, or even something like a peritoneal hernia. I would definitely recommend taking him to the vet to have this checked as soon as possible, since there's really no way to say for sure what's wrong without being able to examine him in person. Your veterinarian can advise you on what kind of treatment is needed depending on what is found.

This is most likely due to a ruptured anal gland abscess. Have her examined by your veterinarian for confirmation. Your veterinarian should check the other gland and express (empty) it if necessary. Antibiotics will probably be dispensed. Pain medication may also be dispensed if indicated. place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent licking until she has healed.

It is a little difficult to tell from the photo, but it looks like one of Charlie's eyes is looking upwards and is protruding slightly. This can be caused by damage to the nerves or muscles that control the movement of the eye, glaucoma, or a mass behind the eye. i recommend having Charlie seen by a vet as soon as possible, as eye conditions are frequently painful and can quickly turn into emergencies. In the meantime, you can get him an E-collar or "cone" to make sure that he does not scratch or rubt he eye, causing further trauma. I hope this helps and that all is well with Charlie!
