My 12lb dog took a 500mg amoxicillin last night. He was definitely feeling ill, poor guy... will he be ok? And can we continue like normal to treat his UTI or should we skip a dose?

Hopefully Chappo will only experience GI effects for this overdose. However, in some cases Amoxicillin overdose can cause neurological side effects, elevated liver enzymes and even cardiac issues. Do not give Chappo any more amoxicillin until you are able to get him in to your veterinarian.

500g amoxicillin is a way too high dose for your 12 lb dog. You will need to take Chappo to a vet for an exam and a urinalysis to verify that he has a UTI (rare in male dogs). Please do not give medications to your dog without a diagnosis and prescription by a veterinarian.
