Vet diagnosed hot spot, but my dog vomited. Could it be Alabama Rot?
Hello. This does not sound like Alabama Rot ( Cutaneous and Renal Glomerular Vasculopathy ) as most dogs will have signs of renal disease called azotemia. While acute vomiting is a sign of this, it would not just stop after 24 hours. Thrombocytopenia is often seen on bloodwork & the skin lesions can be quite impressive. If Poppy is eating, drinking & urinating normally, & the skin irritation is resolving, then the chances of this being CRGV is quite unlikely. Any concerns, please return to your vet for follow up blood work which will identify if there are any ongoing renal changes that are indicative of this disease.
