My dog has accidents on Temaril-P. Can I stop it after 3 days?

Temaril-P is safe to give daily. It is tapered down like this because this is required if taking the pet off the medication. So here moving forward I would suggest to give it daily and then discuss with your vet about getting additional refills of the medication before you run out so that you can safely taper him down, if at all. Hello. I do not think you have too much to worry about because she was not on this medication for a long enough time to need a long withdrawl of the drug. You see, with steroids, after a certain amount of time it is best to discontinue them in a decreasing manner. 10 days is not a significant time to be on the medication & you did decrease the dose 50% for the last 4 days. If your vet is open tomorrow, just call to make sure they do not want you to pick up a few more pills just to finish off the weaning period, but otherwise, there will be no problems with how you gave her the pills. It all depends on how she responds to treatment. Temaril P is basically a steroid, so your vet is aiming to decrease acute airway inflammation right now. It's possible she'll able to come of medication entirely, or she may need a low dose of steroid long term. She could also need a couch medication long term.

If Minnie is not showing any symptoms of an allergy (for example itchy skin, ears inflammation, red skin on paws and on the abdomen) but she looks lethargic and unwell, she probably does not need Temaril at the moment.
