My dog was accidentally squeezed. Should I worry about injury?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund (Miniature Wire Haired) | Male | neutered | 8 years and 4 months old | 9.5 lbs

Tonight i had my little guy in my arms when the doorbell sounded for our pizza. The driver had left it on the porch so i leaned down to get it, hardy still in my arms. The pizza turned out to be very heavy, and even though i tried not to my biceps and forearms ended up sqweezing my baby with a lot of pressure because the pizza was heavy. I walked in and set them both down in the kitchen. I should have left him in the house and not tried to carry them both. Would this cause internal damage

If he's acting fine then you haven't done any damage. Keep an eye on him just to be safe but dachshunds are tough little guys. If he does act as if he's sore, uncomfortable, or seems to be abnormally painful anywhere, call your vet to get him checked.
