Should I use Broth Bowls food topper? Is it safe and healthy for dogs?

The problem with bouillon cubes is that they are VERY high in sodium. 1 cube has almost the recommended amount of sodium for a human for an entire day! So, I think you are going to have to find another option long term. There are a number of companies that are making "gravies" to put over dog foods. There are also companies that are making "toppers" to add to food. I would recommend going to your local pet food store to see what they carry and trying a couple of options to see what Epic prefers. You may also consider changing foods or adding something like a dehydrated dog food to his diet (like The Honest Kitchen) in case he needs a little variety. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. I would keep decreasing the amount of beef broth you put into her food until she is eating the dog food alone. She really should not be having it, so it's best to try to wean her off of it. Typically making bone broth and adding it to the food is not something I recommend doing. The broth can be high in fats that will cause gastrointestinal upset to a dog. This might be vomiting and diarrhea. Also high fat foods can cause pancreatitis in dogs. I would recommend staying with his regular dog food. Hope that helps

Hello. It would be almost impossible to say how much onion extract is actually present in the broth. That being said, since it is the last ingredient & the broth ( which I use ) does not have a strong onion smell or taste, it is probably a very small amount. I would, however, not recommend giving this to your pet on a daily basis. Once in a while is fine, but a little onion extract daily MIGHT cause a problem. If you want to supplement Shawn's diet with broth every day, then go the homemade route & leave out any onions. Then you will also have some delicious chicken for treats or salad left over for you. I think it's a good idea to add this to try to entice Chico's appetite. Serving the food warmed up may help bring out the aroma and flavor also. There is a new kidney supplement for dogs in kidney failure but I can't think of the name of it. It starts with Nef..... I believe. Might be worth asking your veterinarian about. Hello. The food toppers are not considered complete foods & they are not nutritionally balanced. If he is eating the recommended amount of dry food for his age & weight, then you can continue with the food topper, but if not & you want to increase his nutritional intake of a balanced diet, then it is best to mix a good canned or wet food in with his dry instead of using the topper. Personally, I feel that if the topper is not nutritionally balanced, then you are feeding empty calories & the only ones who benefit from these products are the manufacturers. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would avoid human foods if you can. Once you go down that road of adding human food it is almost impossible to go back. If you need to add human food I would still with boiled chicken or hamburger as it is more bland then corned beef. Consider changing dog food brands or adding water or canned dog food to his dry food. Healthy dogs do not choose starvation and if you hold steady and firm that dog food is all he gets then he will learn. Dogs are smart and will hold out when they know something better will come along. A lot of times the dogs train the owner not the other way around. Be careful with what human foods you feed as they can cause an upset stomach or pancreatitis if too high in fat. I wish you the best!
