My dog won't eat. Is beef broth safe due to sodium? Or Pedialyte?

The problem with bouillon cubes is that they are VERY high in sodium. 1 cube has almost the recommended amount of sodium for a human for an entire day! So, I think you are going to have to find another option long term. There are a number of companies that are making "gravies" to put over dog foods. There are also companies that are making "toppers" to add to food. I would recommend going to your local pet food store to see what they carry and trying a couple of options to see what Epic prefers. You may also consider changing foods or adding something like a dehydrated dog food to his diet (like The Honest Kitchen) in case he needs a little variety. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Hello. If Belle feels like drinking, then yes, she can have Pedialyte to drink. You can also try to get her to eat using some cooked chicken or hamburger, or even jars of baby food ( with no onions or garlic in the ingredients ). If she still refuses to eat or drink, I do hope you can have her examined by your veterinarian. She may have some infection or inflammation that is making her feel ill. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is ok to use in the short term just to perhaps entyce a dog's appetite or to complement a dog's diet but not as a sole diet. Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Chico. Chicken broth is typically a very low protein source. I think it's a good idea to add this to try to entice Chico's appetite. Serving the food warmed up may help bring out the aroma and flavor also. There is a new kidney supplement for dogs in kidney failure but I can't think of the name of it. It starts with Nef..... I believe. Might be worth asking your veterinarian about. Good luck with Chico. Another thing you can try is a different carbohydrate such as pasta to entice Chico.

I would not add chicken soup to her food as there is a lot of salt in the broth. You can add canned dog food to her diet for variety. I recommend using the same brand as the dry dog food you are feeding. Safe human foods are boiled chicken and boiled beef but canned dog food has the proper balance of vitamins and minerals. Onions can be bad but broth is diluted with other flavors so there is not enough in that amount to be a problem. Chicken broth is a better alternative to use. You can also try baby food as it has more flavors!
