Is amoxicillin and clavulanate safe for dog liver/kidney & itching?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | 2 years and 10 months old

Do amoxicillin and potassium clavulanate 625 mg twice daily have any bad or sever affect on dogs liver or kidney? Because he is having itching so will this medicine will going to work for it ?

This drug is cleared primarily through the kidneys so sometimes decreasing the dose is recommended for dogs in severe kidney failure, but it is not contraindicated for dogs with liver or kidney disease. This is an antibiotic so while it might help treat a secondary infection and therefore decrease itching it is not a medication specifically for itching.
